About Us

Yeah, I'm not really comfortable talking about me, at least to other adults, but thought it'd be fun to tell you where the name of my blog originated. In the beginning, my blog was called Miss Courtney Meets Howard, after my library's adorable mascot, Howard the Bear.

My very first storytime group started calling me, Miss Courtney, and it stuck. It irks my husband that they don't call me Mrs. Courtney, but I think it's cute. I had lofty plans for this blog including all my programs: storytimes, book clubs, summer reading club, crafts, plus activities for children. Wow, that was too much!

Then came Bobo. Bobo is a perfect mix of my husband and me. Suddenly, the focus of my life wasn't work. Children and early literacy are still huge parts of me, but Bobo is the best of me. So, I changed the name of my blog to Miss Courtney Meets Bobo. I'm re-learning everything I know about children and education through teaching my son.

Bobo is 4-years-old. His favorite things are super heroes and video games. He is a busy, active little boy who likes to do projects with his mama.

NOTE: One of my favorite library mamas told me today that "bobo" means dumby in Spanish and I said, "OH, no!!!" Just to clear this up... Our Bobo's name came from the song, "Monkey Bambo," written for him by his daddy. I also looked it up (it's what I do) and found an awesome definition:

bo bo [boh boh] noun, a liberal, highly educated person who combines a bourgeois lifestyle with nonconformist values and attitudes.

Now, that's perfect!!!
